The Gallery at The Marmara Manhattan is pleased to announce an extraordinary exhibition of paintings by Somnur who arrives in New York bringing "The Colors of Peace".
History of color therapy according to peacefulmind.com "The Colors of Peace"... "is a technique of restoring imbalance by means of applying color the body. It was a popular method of cure even in ancient times. Some 2500 years ago, Pythagoras applied color light therapeutically and 'color halls' were used for healing in ancient Egypt, China and India.
The first color wheel was invented by Sir Isaac Newton and he went a step further and associated each color with a musical note. Johann Wolfgang Goethe began studying psychological effect of each color. Goethe observed that red, yellow, orange produce excitement and cheerfulness. Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet are associated with weakness and unsettled feelings.
The pioneer of modern color therapy was Niels Finsen of Denmark... Niels Finsen studied the possibility of assisting the healing of wounds with visible light".
There are numerous ways to heal and balance with color. Somnur, the artist, has chosen her own way to heal and cure. She says, "Colors are electro-magnetic energy currents reaching us in through varying wavelengths, changing our vision. Works of art translate for us various feelings.
I make them reflect in through with a specific wavelength by using colors and shapes... so that they may go beyond the artist... so that you may let your own creativity work on them to turn that piece of art into a continuously evolving creation...The 240, oil on paper, small paintings are abstract works mostly defined in colors close to the seven pure colors. When used properly, color frequencies can be healing. In the same way, works of art created in healing forms."
Somnur grew up in Turkey; her extensive exhibition record includes most prominent Galleries in Turkey, Europe and United States.
All you need to do is to come and see the artwork and simply breathe, relax and enjoy discovering yourself in peace with "Energetic Symphony of Color" in the sun-filled Gallery at The Marmara Manhattan.
